Alexander E. Brunner (49) studied business management at the University of St. Gallen HSG in Switzerland, before working internationally for many years in alternative investments. Since 2019 he has been working as a senior executive and advisor for international tech companies.
Alexander is the author of several reports and a book about blockchain and Web3.
He is currently writing his second book about the Swiss AI ecosystem. For the book, he has interview close to 50 founders, executives, investors and politicians. Switzerland is considered by leading experts such as Yann Lecun of Meta AI (the “godfather of AI”) as one of the world’s leading AI ecosystems.
Alexander is the owner of Brunner Digital, a Swiss-based advisory firm for international fintech, Web3 and AI companies entering the Swiss market. The company has clients from the US, Europe and Asia.
Alexander is a frequent international speaker and news commentator. From 2015 until 2022 he was a Member of Parliament in the City of Zurich. He was also a commander in the Swiss armed forces for 16 years.

This panel, organised and moderated by SIF, focuses on how AI can be leveraged in the provision of financial services. Working title “From personal manager to virtual advisers: is AI revolutionizing the provision of financial services?”
Specifically, in the context of increased ubiquity of AI in all aspect of financial markets, this panel will break down how the technology is impacting the way asset managers and other financial service providers are offering their services, from the creation of opportunities to new challenges. Through dialogue between new players, regulatory experts and preeminent financial institutions, it aims at answering this central question: is (Gen) AI reshaping the provision of financial services or is it just another tool in the manager’s arsenal?
