Gabriel Bizama

Gabriel R. Bizama is an Advisor at DCM (Digital Currency Management) and a researcher from the University of Bern with nineteen years of working experience on financial regulation in the public and private sectors with a focus on financial innovation, inclusion and payments. DCM is a platform that provides messaging for processing payments using a decentralized database. Before joining Bern and DCM, he led international policy at the Stellar Development Foundation and supported the design of blockchain-based solutions for cash-transfers, cross-border payments and CBDCs. Prior to this, he led the financial inclusion agenda at the Ministry of Treasury of Argentina where he designed and implemented the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, the National Plan for Financial Education and the MSME Finance Policy Framework, and worked on the local payments regulatory framework to achieve interoperability among bank accounts, digital wallets and QR code payments, among others. He also worked as consultant on financial inclusion and fintech initiatives of the World Bank Group and United Nations Development Programme. Gabriel is a PhD candidate at University of Bern and he also holds a Master in Banking and Financial Law (LL.M.) from Boston University School of Law as LL.M. Scholar.
